Hax is a British portrait and narrative photographer whose work explores people, place and experience. Working across editorial, commissioned and personal projects, he photographs individuals and environments with a focus on character, context and story.
With family connections to East Africa spanning four generations, his photography is informed by a longstanding relationship with the region and its cultures. His projects have included retracing the expedition of Joseph Thomson across East Africa, resulting in the book Through Maasailand In the Footsteps of Africa’s Greatest Explorer and a documentary film broadcast on the History Channel.
Alongside his photographic practice, Hax has directed documentary-style film projects, developing a strong foundation in narrative and visual communication. His work has brought him into contact with a wide range of individuals, including characters of influence whose lives and work reflect deep connections with place and purpose.
He now focuses on portraiture, editorial features and commissioned assignments, working across the UK and internationally.
His current work explores portraiture and long-form narrative projects, focusing on individuals whose lives and vocations are shaped by their connection to place.
